Psoriatic Arthritis from the point of view of Ayurveda
Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin condition, which causes inflammation of the joints. Psoriatic arthritis appears as patches of raised, reddish skin covered by silvery-white scale. Plaque psoriasis is the most common type of psoriasis . The patches can occur anywhere on the body, but most frequently form on the elbows, knees, lower back, and scalp. Regardless of type, psoriasis usually causes discomfort. The skin often itches, and it may crack and bleed. In severe cases, the itching and discomfort may keep a person awake at night, and the pain can make everyday tasks difficult. Psoriasis is a chronic, lifelong condition that causes deterioration, pain, and stiffness in the joints.
Symptoms of psoriatic arthritis are:
red, inflamed skin
pain and swelling in the joints that is worse in the morning
stiffness lessens with activity
nails may have ridges or a yellowish-orange discoloration.
